Strawberries – So What’s Not to Love?

Strawberries - So What's Not to Love?

They’re easy and versatile, they flower in spring, fruit spring and summer, and have green leaves all year round (well, at least here in North Carolina).

I created my strawberry patch two years ago on my dad’s birthday. Two years later, the bed is filling in nicely and I can’t wait to see what it produces this year. The first year, not so much; last year, better but I wanted more! – but they were the sweetest berries I’ve ever eaten. Hoping for a bumper crop this year.

Have you planted your strawberries yet? It’s time!

YES I will be planting strawberries for the first time this year. I am very excited but I have squirrels here and I have been told they are ruthless…do they like strawberries too? What will they eat ?
    Thank you

    Hi Maria:

The squirrels haven’t bothered my strawberries over the last 2 seasons. Shocking, actually.

Some of the berries have holes in them and I’m not sure if that’s bugs or birds. I just need to plant enough for all of us!

Let me know how yours work out!
